Course Information

Description

Regulated Qualification | Distance Learning (Self-Study)

This includes unit 3 only; it is suitable for candidates who have previously completed the Level 4 Award and wish to upgrade to the Lead qualification.

This qualification is intended for those who lead a team of IQAs and maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.

Learners undertaking this qualification will be able to understand the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment. They will be able to plan and prepare activities to monitor the quality assurance team and allocate work as required.

Duration

You can complete this course in a few weeks or in up to 12 months. Typically, distance learning students complete this course within 6 months.

Units

Learners will achieve one unit, to add to their existing qualification:

  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility

Resources

We provide a comprehensive range of digital learning resources, including full access to our online study library, downloadable course materials, interactive guides, and tutor-supported content to enhance your learning experience.

In addition to our extensive online resources, a hard-copy resource pack is also available here.

Assessments

This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence that covers all assessment criteria for the units selected. Assessment methods include:

  • Unit 1 is assessed through a written essay.
  • Unit 2 is assessed by conducting quality assurance activities for at least two assessors, each with at least two learners. A qualified IQA must observe one of your activities, which your ATC Training tutor can do remotely. You must also create a sampling plan and provide evidence of how you ensure assessors are suitably qualified and competent.
  • Unit 3 is a combination of written work and practical activities. You will also participate in a professional discussion with your tutor or another qualified lead IQA.
  • Submit a CPD record and reflective journal.

Suitability

Who should do this course?

This course will qualify the candidate to act as a Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA). These roles exist in further education colleges, independent training providers and apprenticeship providers.

It will also be a valuable qualification for those responsible for leading a team of IQAs or managing the quality of training and/or assessment within workplace training.

Pre-requisites

Learners must be aged 19+ years to enrol on this course and already hold the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (RQF).

You must also be in a position to lead a team of IQAs or others who are responsible for the quality of assessments.

Certificate

Typically, within 7 days of successful completion, learners will receive an externally accredited PDF certificate from a nationally recognised and Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation.

Below is an example of the certificate issued by Focus Awards.

If you prefer a hard-copy certificate, you can print it yourself or order a printed certificate upon completion.
