Regulated Qualification | Distance Learning (Self-Study)
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF), formerly DTLLS, is suitable for those in a teaching or training role who wish to obtain a degree-level qualification. It is also suitable for trainee teachers and those with experience in a teaching role.
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF) provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of delivering education and training, assessing learners, planning in education and training, using resources to deliver education and training, and understanding the roles and responsibilities within education and training.
This qualification will also allow the individual to apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
Duration
You can complete this course at your own pace for up to 18 months. Typically, distance learning students complete this course within 12 months.

- Wider professional practice and development in education and training

Assessment
This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence that covers all assessment criteria for the units selected. Assessment methods include:
- 7 x Written essays
- Training Log (100 hours)
- Initial assessment/diagnostic assessments
- Produce a scheme of work and lesson plans
- Create learning resources
- 8 hours of teaching/training observations
- Self-evaluation and reflection
- CPD log

Who should do this course?
This qualification is suitable for education professionals seeking a teaching degree and those who aim to gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. This is aimed at those who teach learners in the further education sector, independent training providers, and adults in the workplace. Evidence towards this qualification must be gained from learning learners aged 14+.
Pre-requisites
Learners must be 19+ years old to enrol in this course. You do not necessarily need to work in a full-time teaching role, but you will need to be able to complete 100 hours of teaching (learners aged 14+) during the qualification. This may include voluntary work and online sessions.
Certificate
Upon successful completion, learners will receive an externally accredited certificate from Focus Awards, a nationally recognised and Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation.
