The OPITO Internal Verifier Vocational Qualification is designed for individuals who have been appointed, or are preparing to be appointed, to an Internal Verifier role.
It is particularly suitable for those responsible for maintaining the quality, consistency and integrity of vocational assessment within the oil and gas, energy and other operational industries.
What will you learn?
The qualification combines underpinning knowledge of internal verification and quality assurance with the practical workplace evidence required to demonstrate competence.
You will develop your understanding of internal verification before applying your knowledge in the workplace. This includes monitoring assessment practice, reviewing assessment decisions and supporting assessors to maintain consistent assessment standards.
By completing the qualification, you will demonstrate both the knowledge and practical competence required to carry out internal verification responsibilities effectively within the workplace.
Flexible online learning
The qualification is completed 100% online, allowing you to work through the required knowledge and evidence at a pace that fits around your work and other commitments.
Standard course enrolment includes 12 months of system access and tutor support. Extensions are available where additional time is required, allowing a maximum completion period of 18 months.
Units
The OPITO Internal Verifier Vocational Qualification consists of two mandatory units, both of which must be successfully completed to achieve the qualification.
Two units provide 12 credits:
- OGOS-SQ03 – OPITO Internal Verifier
- OGOS-SQ04 – OPITO Internal Verifier Workplace Evidence

Assessments
Learners must demonstrate both the underpinning knowledge and practical workplace competence required of an Internal Verifier. This is assessed through the completion of two written essays.
Workplace evidence of quality assurance activities will be used to demonstrate the learner’s ability to undertake internal verification activities and review assessment practice. Candidates must have access to at least two assessors undertaking an assessment process within their workplace to verify.
Verification activities must be undertaken in the workplace in accordance with operational requirements, organisational procedures and safe working practices.

This qualification is suitable for individuals who have been appointed, or are preparing to be appointed, to an Internal Verifier role.
It is particularly suited to individuals responsible for monitoring assessment practice and supporting the quality and consistency of vocational assessment within the oil and gas, energy and other operational workplace environments.
The qualification provides a recognised route for individuals who need to demonstrate their competence as an Internal Verifier against OPITO requirements.
Pre-requisites
To enrol for this qualification, candidates must:
- Be aged 16 or over
- Have access to a minimum of two assessors undertaking assessment activities within their workplace
- Have suitable opportunities to carry out internal verification activities in the workplace
- Have access to relevant organisational assessment procedures, documentation and safe working practices
- Have sufficient English language skills to understand the course content and complete all required assessment evidence in English
As workplace internal verification is a mandatory component of the qualification, candidates should ensure they can meet these requirements before enrolling.
Certificate
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a globally recognised OPITO qualification at SCQF Level 8.
The certificate does not expire.
