Standard & Enhanced Learning Credits

We are an MOD Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCAS) approved provider no. 13259

The MOD provides Learning Credits to support eligible Armed Forces personnel with personal and professional development. The two main schemes are Standard Learning Credits (SLC) and Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC).

Standard Learning Credits (SLC)

Claim 80% of the course fee back, up to £175 per year.

ATC Training supports learners using the MOD’s Standard Learning Credits (SLC) scheme, which promotes personal and professional development throughout Service.

Eligible service personnel can claim up to 80% of course fees, up to a maximum of £175 per financial year, towards approved learning activities. Claims must be approved before the course starts by completing MOD Form 1950 and obtaining authorisation from line management and education staff.

Once approved, purchase the course in full on our website, and you can later claim a refund of your approved amount internally upon completion.

Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC)

Used to fund 80% of course fees, with the remaining 20% paid by the candidate.

ATC Training is an approved provider (no. 13259) for the MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS). The scheme promotes lifelong learning amongst members of the Armed Forces. Providing financial support in the form of an upfront 80% financial contribution to the course fee.

We often see service leavers maximise funding claims by combining several of our qualifications to support transition to civilian careers. Claim amounts vary; we often see approval for up to £2000, though this may depend on individual circumstances.

ECLAS Claim Process

1. Choose your qualification(s)

Start by identifying the qualification that best supports your career goals. Consider the type of civilian role you want to move into, the qualifications employers typically request and how your existing military experience could support your chosen career path.
2. Check Eligibility

Before applying, confirm that your chosen course is eligible under the ELCAS scheme. We can help you identify suitable qualifications and explain the available study options.
3. Submit ELCAS Claim

Submit your claim through the official ELCAS process in accordance with the current scheme requirements. Your claim should be submitted and approved before your course begins. Visit the ELCAS website to apply.
4. Receive Your Claim Authorisation Note (CAN)

Once your ELCAS application has been approved, you will receive a Claim Authorisation Note (CAN) confirming the approved funding. Once you receive it, forward us a copy of the note.
5. Pay Your Personal Contribution

Learners are normally required to make a 20% personal contribution towards the course cost, with ELC funding contributing towards the remaining 80% balance. ATC Training will issue a payment link for your contribution after receiving the CAN.
6. Start Your Course

Once the CAN has been issued and your 20% contribution paid, course access will be issued and you can begin working towards your qualification.
