Aviation Assessor Certificate & Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (RQF)
Regulated Qualification | IATA AHM1110 9.4 | IS-BAH IG 8.1.6
Designed for employees responsible for assessing the competency of staff in the aviation industry. Learn about the principles and practices of assessment and use a range of assessment methods to verify employees are competent in their job role. This course is designed to meet aviation industry requirements.
- Aligned with IATA AHM1110 11.2 (GEN10) for commercial aviation.
- Useful to comply with IS-BAH IG 8.1.6 for business aviation.
- Complete by distance learning, available worldwide.
Typically, distance learning students complete this course within 3 months although students are able to take up to 12 months to complete the qualification.
To complete the qualification, trainee assessors must:
- Complete a written assignment for unit 1. This is approximately 3,500 words, broken into smaller parts.
- Assess two different people, across two different courses or tasks in the aviation workplace.
- Be observed carrying out one of the four assessments by a qualified assessor (or your ATC Training tutor).
- Take part in a professional discussion and reflect on own performance.
Learners must be aged 19+ years to be enrolled onto this course. You must be in a position to assess learners in the work environment as part of this qualification. Ideally, you will have access to a qualified assessor in the workplace to act as a mentor.
Please note: course materials are provided in English and the practical assessment must be completed in English.
IATA AHM1110 states that anyone who assesses colleagues should be suitably qualified. This is a new requirement in Edition 44 (2024). This course provides a solution to meet that requirement.
This may be an existing trainer looking to add a specific assessor qualification, or it may be for an experienced colleague, team leader, supervisor or manager who will occasionally assess the competence of staff as part of their role.
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Workplace is a nationally recognised assessor qualification. This qualifies the individual to assess in any work environment, including NVQs and Apprenticeships.
The Aviation Assessor Certificate is available immediately upon completion. The Level 3 certificate will be awarded after internal and external quality assurance, typically within 7 days of completion.
