This qualification is intended for those who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.
Learners undertaking this qualification will be able to understand the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment.
Duration
Complete in a few weeks, or take up to 12 months. Typically, distance learning students complete this course within 3-6 months.
Learners will achieve 12 credits across 2 units:
- Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
- Internally assure the quality of assessment
In addition to our extensive online resources, learners will receive a resource pack by post (UK and EU only).
This course will qualify the candidate to act as an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA). These roles exist in further education colleges, independent training providers and apprenticeship providers.
It will also be a useful qualification for those responsible for managing the quality of training and/or assessment within workplace training.
Learners must be aged 19+ years to enrol on this course and be able to carry out quality assurance activities on at least two assessors or trainers, each with at least two learners.
This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence that covers all assessment criteria for the units selected. Assessment methods include:
- Unit 1 is assessed through a written essay.
- Unit 2 is assessed by conducting quality assurance activities for at least two assessors, each with at least two learners. A qualified IQA must observe one of your activities, which your ATC Training tutor can do remotely. You must also create a sampling plan and provide evidence of how you ensure assessors are suitably qualified and competent.
- Submit a CPD record and reflective journal.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive an externally accredited certificate from Focus Awards, a nationally recognised and Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation.
